valentine's day weekend.

It was definitely the most eventful weekend we've had in a long time!! We had Feb. 15th off for President's Day last week so we took full advantage and celebrated all weekend long! Friday was Chinese New Year so we had a little get together with some friends and family. Everyone brought a little "Chinese treat" like cookies and fried rice. Dave made delicious potstickers and I turned a Thai pasta Chinese :)We spent the night playing Hilarium and Wacky 6. Overall, a very successful new year.

Saturday we had our Valentine's Day celebration stuff. Dave got off early, around 6 o'clock and we got ready for a double date with cousins Scott and Ashley! We had Hawaiian haystacks for dinner and went dancing at the Sweetheart Ball! It was the most comedic thing you've ever seen! People are so... interesting here. We love them and they make our days so interesting. [Honestly, just yesterday, Dave and I were at a 4-way stop and sat and watched this guy dance his way across the street while he listened to music through these huge headphones!] We waited in line for a solid hour and a half to have our picture taken. The line took forever to move because the guy was doing multiple shots and poses for everyone! Still so much fun though!

Monday! Dave heard from his teacher about this awesme place to go cross country skiing. We thought we'd give it a try so we rented skis from the ORC and drove up to Harriman State Park. It was incredible!!

The day was relatively warm and we ran around in long-sleeved shirts. It was a rough start but eventually we got the hang of it. One of the trails we followed went right along the river. The park is known for their huge swans that just float on the river. It was just beautiful! We loved it and had such a wonderful time.

corsages galore!

This semester I'm taking the most wonderful class: flower arranging.

I've been making all sorts of wonderful things. Actually, so far we've only learned how to make corsages but I'm thrilled with the two I've made. I feel like they're the most beautiful things on the planet. I was crushed when Dave didn't feel the same way. I've been begging him to wear them when I get out of class but he, being a biased male, feels like wearing a pink corsage will look weird.

I added a blue ribbon to my second corsage in hopes that that would "man" it up. Apparently it worked because I got the OK to pin it to his backpack and he wore it around all day :) For me, I count that as a success and definitely progress. Hopefully I can get blue flowers next time or something so he'll wear it on his shirt.
