My Golden Week

Well, I just finished my golden week of pregnancy. You know, like your golden birthday? Well, I just celebrated my golden week 24! Things have still continued so smoothly and I'm so grateful.

Here is an update on everything you've been wanting to know...

- I'm 25 weeks on Monday and feeling great. Just normal really. Healthy and happy.

- Yes I have had craving! The first little while I really just wanted yogurt, fruit and juice ALL the time. Now it's ethnic type food - Chinese, Thai, Mexican, etc. I love spicy and sadly have decreased my love of sweets a little. That comes in waves (which is probably more dangerous!).

- In case you didn't know IT'S A BOY! Yes, when we found out, that exclamation mark was not there and the ladybugs, hair bows, closet of dresses and hair and nail dates vanished. Luckily they've finally been replaced with visions of bow ties, sail boats, holding the door for mommy and him being Daddy's woodshop buddy.

- Yes we have names. No we won't pick one until he's born. We've been loving presidential inspired names though [something like Abe, Jefferson and Lincoln] but we really love Oliver too.

- My clothes are starting to stretch out a little so I'll need to do something about that soon.

- Yes I have been taking pictures every week and they may or may not have turned into a photo shoot a few times :)

-Lastly, this little man is a kicker, bouncer, back flipper and boxer. I love it. Started feeling him karate chopping near the end of January and Dave felt him Feb. 1. You see him popping out of my belly All. The. Time. and it's so weird/awesome.

- Fun Fact. My belly button is just stretched out enough that I can flip it inside out. So weird and bad news for my inny.

Week 24

our latest...

Meet Ms. Penny.
She is a honey if there ever was one.
That is if there ever were a honey that had the tiniest bladder in the world and went potty in the house even if she'd just gone moments ago outside. But she's so darling I can hardly get too upset with her.

We are foster parents! My life long dream to give a resting place to homeless dogs in kind of coming true. One puppy dog at a time. With little convincing from me, Dave agreed to let me volunteer our house to be a foster home for shelter dogs on their way to finding adoptive families. It's been an adventure and lots of work but more love than we could have imagined.

So far we've had...

Maggie Mae:  English Bulldog
2 1/2 years old
Saved a week before her euthanasia date. Bundle of energy.
One of the highest jumping dogs I've ever encountered.
Loves every single person she meets.

Currently have...Penny: Husky Mix
10 weeks
Born at an outdoor shelter. Only 1 of 6 other litter mates to live.
Personality award for Most Sassy.
Best sleep snuggler/acts exactly like a human baby.

Baron: Lab
10 weeks (when we got him)
Found as a stray.
Easiest puppy I've ever housed.
Loved everyone. So incredibly smart. Loved Lucy with all his heart.
Almost kept him.

If you're ready for a pet, just remember the shelter animals that already need a home. They're fighters who've already proved they deserve to be here. They're not broken. They've just known a little more life than they'd care to. Lucy has been the BEST and we're so blessed to have her.
