before and afters...

It's been fun trying to furnish our new apartment. I've loved trying to make it colorful and spicy! The best part for me is finding old furniture and redoing it. While visiting a town in Indiana this summer, I ran across these adorable cafe chairs at an antique store. Best part? They were only $3 each.

Sorry I don't have a before picture but the wood was mostly exposed and was very dark and worn. Not the cute kind. I sanded them down, painted and antiqued them. I kept the red vinyl seats for now.  Wouldn't burlap be so cute though? (Probably too scratchy?)

Then, remember this chair from that garage sale earlier this summer? Well I sanded this down too, painted it and added some fun stripes.

Lastly, Dave's uncle gave us this neat drop leaf side table. It's actually made from mahogany and Dave had HUGE reservations about me painting it but the top had already been stripped by previous owners so for a quick fix, I was allowed to paint it. :) It's not quite so bright in real life, more of a cream and slightly periwinkle blue. Right now, it's my official crafting table.

And a fun little project that's finally finished - frames! On one of our vacations, Dave and I picked up two really fun posters. One of a million pastas and the other an old vintage map. I cut the pasta one up into different sizes and Dave made frames for them all.

I painted them an olive green, antiqued/distressed them (we're all about antiquing these days), added glass and voila!
[Sorry the frame pictures are so washed out and weird. bad time of day- but the blog must go on!]
